What Is Left Behind

A controlled study of decay.

The leftover of something once meant to be beautiful, now dead and dried.

Looking at the materiality of each plant. I photographed them like evidence.

To me these images sit in the spaces between:
transition
collapse
remnants
time compressing material
life and death
decay

I made these yesterday, it was 5 years since my grandmother Olimpia passed away. It is interesting how we engage with loss and how we look at what’s left behind. She was a great influence on my way of thinking. I miss talking to her.
